Continuous monitoring

Outlook Plugin

Submit the message you're reading to the Email Threat Analyzer in one click, without leaving Outlook. Works in Outlook for Windows, Mac, and the web (mailbox API 1.5+).

Want every mailbox monitored automatically instead of per-user installs? Connect the Microsoft 365 integration to analyze incoming mail across your whole tenant.

One-click submission

The open message is exported as .eml and analyzed for phishing indicators — no forwarding, no copy-paste.

Nothing sent silently

Only emails you explicitly submit are sent. No background scanning of your mailbox.

Key follows the mailbox

Your key lives in Outlook's roaming settings, so it works across devices and only talks to Blue Lantern APIs.

Set up in four steps

Condensed guide — the full documentation covers each Outlook client and troubleshooting.

  1. 1

    Download the manifest

Save blue-lantern-outlook-manifest.xml to your computer. You'll hand this file to Outlook in the next step.

  2. 2

    Sideload the add-in

In Outlook on the web (or the new Outlook for Windows/Mac), open Settings → General → Manage add-ins, then My add-ins → Add a custom add-in → Add from file… and choose the manifest. Classic Outlook for Windows reaches the same manager via File → Manage Add-ins.

  3. 3

    Configure your key

Open any received email, click Send as EML in the Blue Lantern ribbon group, and paste your key into the task pane. Create a Mail Extension monitor key from the Monitoring Hub to tie submissions to a monitored member. The key is stored in Outlook's roaming settings and only sent to Blue Lantern APIs.

  4. 4

    Send an email for analysis

With a received email open, click Send as EML → Send. The message is analyzed by the Email Threat Analyzer and the report appears in your account when it completes.

Seats and billing

Assign the monitor's submitter to a seated member of your organization and scans are covered by that seat. Extensions require a Seat License. See pricing.
