Outlook Personal Mailbox
Monitor your own Outlook.com or Hotmail mailbox for phishing, without installing anything.
This is the personal-account counterpart to the org integrations. You sign in to Microsoft once and consent to read-only inbox access; from then on every new message in your inbox is analyzed automatically, with verdicts in the Monitoring Hub and delivery through your alert rules.
Requirements
- A personal Blue Lantern account (organizations connect mailboxes through the Microsoft 365 org integration instead).
- An active Seat License. Your own mailbox occupies your seat.
- A Microsoft personal account (@outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com). Work or school accounts belong in the org integration.
Connecting
- Open Integrations, click Add Integration, and choose Outlook.com / Hotmail (personal mailbox).
- You are sent to Microsoft to sign in and approve read-only mail access (
Mail.Read). Blue Lantern cannot send, move, or delete your mail. - Microsoft returns you to Blue Lantern with the mailbox connected. Analysis starts with the next message that arrives; nothing already in the inbox is scanned retroactively.
The consent link is single-use and valid for ten minutes; if it expires, start again from Integrations.
What is monitored
- Inbox only. Mail that Microsoft has already filed to Junk is never sent to us.
- Read-only. The first release does not move or quarantine anything. Automatic quarantine may arrive later as a separate consent you can decline.
- One mailbox per account. Reconnecting replaces the existing connection rather than adding a second.
Reconnecting
Microsoft periodically invalidates app access (a password change, a security checkup, six months of inactivity, or removing the app yourself). When that happens the integration shows Reconnect needed and monitoring pauses until you click Reconnect and sign in again. Nothing else needs to be set up again.
Removing the integration
Click Remove on the Integrations page. This unsubscribes from inbox notifications, deletes our copy of your Microsoft sign-in token, and erases the mailbox record. Microsoft does not allow apps to revoke their own grant, so to remove Blue Lantern on their side as well, open account.live.com/consent and remove the app. Deleting your Blue Lantern account performs the same teardown for every integration.
Privacy
Message payloads are analyzed and deleted within 24 hours and analysis reports within 90 days; only verdicts and minimal metadata are retained. See the Privacy Policy for the full retention terms.
